Walmart #338 Lamar, MO, No More Truck Parking.

It seems this is not temporary but permanent. This store location is in Lamar, Missouri off Interstate 49 at exit 77 on NW side of exit. On a map this is about 45 miles north of Joplin, MO.

This “was” a great place to pull over and park in the officially designated truck parking area on north side of store to do some shopping, now this isn’t the case. Apparently they have closed off the area for all of 2026 and maybe longer. Remember truckers places of business that do allow truck parking are not for overnight parking, they are to shop and then leave so your fellow drivers can do the same. This has been happening more and more at many different types of businesses and is usually due to the obvious trash piles where trucks park.

Why did this happen? I don’t know but have seen many speculate to various reasons like “truckers leaving their trash around”, “some truck took out some cars in the lot”, or “Walmart just hates truck drivers”. I’ll be looking for some answers, found out myself since right before going there saw some 1 star reviews stating it was closed to truckers. I can confirm it is closed with cement barriers and some container trailers blocking many of the parking spots. Worth mentioning many times in the past truck parking areas would often be closed temporarily when they stored container trailers for blitz or heavy seasonal freight storage on site.
